Rohingya Village Burning on the Day of Obama's Myanmar VisitNurel Islam and Tim King Salem-News.comRed robes, burning villages and people screaming, welcome to Burma Obama...
(DHAKA/SACRAMENTO/RANGOON ) - U.S. President Barack Obama is touring SE Asian nations with U.S. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton on an unprecedented trip taking place during rising tensions with China. One of his stops will be an historic visit to Burma, renamed Myanmar; where heavy ethnic cleansing has left well over a thousand dead. The minority Rohingya Muslim population is being targeted by Rakhine Buddhists who defy the peaceful stereotype of their faith. A reliable source from Alethangyaw, Maungdaw south informed that a Rohingya village named Hansara 2 miles North-East from Alethengyaw township was torched. The suspects in the arson are said to be from the Buddhist Natala villagers and now the village is burning. More news continues to flow in, we will try to capture the most accurate information about this throughout the day. It is a challenge of Buddhists on Obama`s Myanmar visit today.
