(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Oregon Progressive Party has chosen Steven "Cody" Reynolds as its nominee to run in the January 31, 2012, Special Election to fill the vacant seat of U.S. Representative for the 1st District of Oregon. Cody is a 33-year old former officer in the United States Army. He enlisted in 1997 and served in Kuwait (Operation Desert Fox). He was then selected for admission to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air and Missile Defense Command. Injuries and surgeries led to his honorable disability separation from the Army in 2004.
"The people of the 1st Congressional District and of all of America need to break the two party gridlock and replace corporate funded politicians with new blood not beholden to the special interests that have a stranglehold on our future," said Progressive Party officer David Hess. "Cody will push to restart the Work Projects Administration (WPA) to provide good jobs for millions of Americans in improving transportation and communications systems, public buildings, and parks, to demand a withdrawal of United States troops from foreign military conflicts, and to create a single payer healthcare system that protects everyone." Lt. Dan Choi, a noted DADT Activist, said "Cody and I learned leadership lessons at West Point that congress really needs: Duty, Integrity, Sacrifice, Courage. Now we're on a new battlefield, where we fight for the same objectives: freedom and justice. I'm proud of his leadership and I'm honored to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him in this battle.

While you are entitled to your opinions of his politics; calling him a dirtbag because of them is a bit much.
