Daschle Will be Next Secretary of Health and Human Services

"Tom Daschle is not just an expert on health policy, he is a skilled legislator and an inspiring leader." - Sen. Ron Wyden

Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle will become the new U.S. Health and Human Services secretary under the Barack Obama presidency. The South Dakota Democrat had previously stated that he was not interested in the vice presidency or in serving as chief of staff if Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois is elected president, but "is interested in universal health care and might relish serving as HHS secretary."

Daschle had been under consideration for White House Chief of Staff in Barack Obama's new administration; but that post ultimately went to Rahm Emanuel. Daschle's nomination to be Health and Human Services secretary is pending Senate confirmation.

U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.,) released the following statement applauding President-Elect Obama’s selection of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle to be nominated as the next U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.

“President-Elect Obama quite simply could not have made a better choice for the job. Tom Daschle is not just an expert on health policy, he is a skilled legislator and an inspiring leader. He is also a close friend. Eighteen years ago, I was honored to have then Senator Daschle join me in leading the effort to reform Medigap and protect seniors from health insurance scams. Today, I am honored at the prospect of joining Secretary-designate Daschle in the effort that will ultimately reform the nation’s health care system.”

Friend Ron: Checked out your link, and find it refers to commercial offer for book. Appreciate your good faith in reference, and I agree it may well help some persons in some ways. But we offer ad-space here as a main product producing some of the costs demanded to make the channel available to you. Ah, how that murky swamp doth breed alligators who must then spew out allegations... But then what other horrors might we find if we did drain that swamp ??

Although I do feel that Daschle has much to prove, I truly believe that positive thought can transform this country! While it may be easy to dwell on negative aspects of Daschle’s policies, we can only look to the future and all that it holds in store for us. I've been using this concept in my personal life as well. Positive thought combined with the use of vision boards has truly helped me be more open to opportunity and change for the better! Like Obama says, “I’m asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington…I’m asking you to believe in yours.” Here's a great resource explaining (better than I can) how to use these concepts to better your life: www.thevisionboardkit.com. You can download a free first chapter, too!

So the people of South Dakota kicked Daschle out of the senate (he had been the senate majority leader and still the people wanted him gone, guess they sniffed him out accurately). Both he and his wife are essentially lobbyists, so let's let him run a cabinet department. It appears that so far the majority of Obama's admin. picks are Clintonites. By the way there are two states that happen to be doing quite well with low unemployment, low taxes and they are "running surpluses!" These two states are Utah and Indiana. It should be noted that Utah allows those with CHL's to carry in all public schools. No major shoot-outs (zero) so we won't be hearing about that in the msm, or probably not much on why they are having financial success thus far and the "reasons" why. It appears other states and Washington should be using them as part of a template, along with Ireland. We need problem-solvers not two-dimensional retreads that offer Carter-like solutions, which compounds problems as the evidence has clearly shown, i.e. , a 22% interest rate and high unemployment and inflation.

To all: For those tending to question President Obama's intentions e healthcare remediation, this should be solid and pleasing choice. Make sure you take whatever action your conscience guides you to do NOW for what YOU see as the needed steps for a deplorable, corporate-driven, competition-raddled, profit-lavish system needing careful and comprehensive reform rapidly. IF you question that truth, seek out any of your recently dis-employed friends and see where they now find themselves in this great nation noted for its democratic governance and equal opportunity under law for all citizens.
