(ALBANY, Ore.) - A Sweet Home man was found dead yesterday afternoon after an overnight search led teams to the Quartzville area. Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says 53-year old Ricky Dean Hurse was picking mushrooms Saturday approximately three miles from Quartzville Road near the 600 line when he was reported as overdue.

"He was reported overdue by his girlfriend at approximately 11:30 PM Saturday night when he failed to return home," Mueller stated.

He says deputies, members of the Linn County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Post and the Sheriff's Mounted Posse responded to the area and searched throughout the night and Sunday.

"At approximately 1:45 PM Mr. Hurse's body was found about 200 yards from his pickup by a Posse member on horseback.

The cause of death is undetermined at this time pending an autopsy."

Mr. Hurse's body was transported to Workman & Steckley Funeral Chapel in Sweet Home pending further arrangements.
