(EUGENE, Ore.) - Oregon State Police arrested a Eugene-area man Monday night on attempted murder charges related to a September 2008 incident in which he is alleged to have shot at Lane County sheriff deputies responding to a call of a suicidal person at an area residence.

OSP Spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says around 6:30 PM, OSP Detective Andy Kenyon arrested 31-year old Nathan Miles Dix at a Eugene motel related to an arrest warrant issued following an indictment by a Lane County Grand Jury.

Dix was lodged in the Lane County Jail on two counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon Against a Person.

Hastings says the arrest followed an investigation into a September 1st 2008 incident in which the Lane County Sheriff's Office responded to 106 Bauer Lane related to a report of a suicidal person armed with a shotgun.

"When deputies arrived, Dix exited the home and fired at two deputies in the driveway. The deputies returned fire, striking and injuring Dix. Following the shooting, DIX was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital at RiverBend where he was treated until his recent discharge," Hastings said.

The Lane County District Attorney's Office says an arraignment will be scheduled today, November 18th, at 1:30 PM.

No further information regarding the investigation will be released without approval from the district attorney's office.
