(Corvallis, Oregon) - The Oregon State women’s golf team received National Letters of Intent from three golfers, head coach Risë Alexander announced on Tuesday. Helen Searle from Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, Bethany Wurster from Minden, Nev., and Anica Yoo from Port Coquitlam, Canada all signed their letters and will join the Oregon State women’s golf program. “We are very excited about our 2011 incoming class,” Alexander said. “These players bring tremendous energy, talent and excitement to our program. Their considerable experience at the highest junior levels in the respective countries will make the transition to collegiate golf seamless. In combination with our current players, they will be the catalyst that takes us to a new level of play in the Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA. Being able to recruit this caliber of players, nationally and internationally, is a credit to our athletic department and the support they give our women’s golf program.” Searle is attending Rishworth School where she is Head of School and represented England at the Home Internationals and European Junior Masters. She was the Yorkshire Junior Champion in 2006 and North of England U-16 Girls Champion in 2007. She was a member of the Ladies Scratch Team Winners of Yorkshire that advanced to the county finals in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010. Wurster attends Douglas High School and has lettered four years for the women’s golf team. She held the Nevada State Record with a 6-under par at Genoa Lakes Golf Course and won the regional tournament as a freshman, sophomore and senior. She is a three-time player of the year and won back-to-back team regional titles during her freshman and sophomore years. Yoo attends Terry Fox Secondary and was named the 2009 MJT Junior Player of the Year. She finished 27th for the Canadian team at the Junior Worlds in 2010 and was named Most Outstanding Golfer in 2008-09 and Rookie of the Year in 2007-08. The Beavers begin their spring season Feb. 7-8 at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in Tucson.
