(Corvallis, Oregon) - The 2010-11 Oregon State gymnastics team is set to perform for the first time this season Thursday at 7 p.m. at Gill Coliseum. Admission is free and the team will sign autographs following the exhibition.

“The Black and Orange Exhibition marks an important point in our preseason,” head coach Tanya Chaplin said. “It is our first opportunity to get out of the gym and perform in front of our fans, and the change of venue is especially important for our freshmen. “

The format for the 2010 exhibition will feature the Beavers performing as a single team on each of the four events. Oregon State gymnastics public address announcer Brian Brooks will help to educate fans on the requirements of each event with commentary from a judge.

Oregon State opens its season with a whirlwind weekend starting Friday, Jan. 7 when the Beavers host Southeastern Conference powerhouse LSU. The Beavers then travel to Los Angeles to participate in the Pac-10 Preview hosted by UCLA Sunday, Jan. 9.

Reigning Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Makayla Stambaugh along with two-time All-American Jen Kesler and 2008 Australian Olympian Olivia Vivian are expected to lead the Beavers through the 2011 season. In addition, Becky Colvin and Leslie Mak, both of which were All-Pac-10 performers 2010, are also back in the fold.

Joining the Beavers this year are four talented freshmen including Hannah Casey, Brittany Harris, Britney Ranzy and Amanda Schulberg, all of which train in the all-around and are expected to have an immediate impact on the lineup.
