STORM WATCH: Highway 18 CLOSED Between Otis Junction And Grande Ronde

ODOT recommends that motorists use Oregon 22 between Valley Junction and Hebo as an alternative.

(LINCOLN CITY) - The Oregon Department of Transportation has closed Oregon 18 from U.S. 101 at Otis Junction to milepost 21, just east of Grand Ronde, after high winds downed more than 100 trees across the highway.

The fallen trees are spread over a 21-mile area of Highway 18. The trees fell late Sunday and early Monday morning due to high winds and rain-saturated soil.

This section of highway is expected to remain closed at least through noon on Tuesday.

ODOT crews are working to remove the trees, and plans are in motion to contract with timber fallers to assist in clearing the highway.

ODOT recommends that motorists use Oregon 22 between Valley Junction and Hebo as an alternative.
