(Corvallis, Oregon) - For the second consecutive year, the Oregon State women’s soccer team is tournament bound. After advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2009, the Beavers look to advance even further this season. The Beavers secured an at-large bid to the tournament, the NCAA announced on Monday afternoon live on ESPNU. Their journey starts in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Nov. 12 where they will square off against the Memphis Tigers at a time yet to be determined. The team held a selection watch party in the Club Level of Reser Stadium with the room growing tense as ESPN News went through six of the eight brackets without the Beavers seeing their name on the board. When the seventh group came up on the television it was nothing short of pandemonium as the team celebrated its second trip to the tournament in as many years. The moment was especially meaningful for the lone Oregon State senior, Courtney Wetzel who will see her career continue on the biggest stage of college soccer. Wetzel had a career day in the first round of the tournament in 2009 when she scored twice in a 3-1 rout over 11-th ranked Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. The Beavers finished the season with a program best record of 15-3-1 overall and 7-2-0 in Pacific-10 Conference play. Memphis ended its season with an overall record of 15-3-3 after winning their fourth-straight Conference-USA Championship. The winner of the match between Oregon State and Memphis will advance to the second round and will take on the winner of the Oklahoma State (17-3-2) and Michigan (10-4-4) match on Sunday.
