Hebrews 10:24-25 & Television Ministries

Hebrews 10:25 is one of many bible verses that illustrates,
How the misinterpretation of the real meaning will negate,
Main promises of the word coming to fruition in your life,
Whereas some clergy cannot distinguish wrong from right.

These verses are most often used to enjoin people to attend,
An in person church service however, what happens when?
Local worship centers, preachers their selves are not aware,
This does not mean blessings come only when you are there.

My church attendance is mainly from Televised Ministries,
And it’s like a buffet but not choosing to hear what I please,
Have you ever fallen asleep during a sermon boring as sin?
That is when I change the channel to get rejuvenated again.

“Where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, there am I among,”
Matthew 18:20, you don’t heed a congregation just 1 + 1,
Tough to exhort & encourage one another to good works,
When behind closed doors parishioners are digging up dirt.

No place is perfect and church is no exception, understood,
Should not there be less gossip than in your neighborhood?
And, “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,”
What happens years later your & knowledge is no better?

God isn’t stagnant the whole purpose of church is to grow,
You will never learn from those who only pretend to know,
Not just the Christian Sabbath or Saturday Worship Days,
Should be set-aside for believers to come together & pray.

Television Ministries, 24/7, Methodists, Baptist, whatever,
Can you run out of religious sects to learn the word, never,
Pastors, Bishops, Evangelists, Cardinals or Jewish Rabbis,
Knowledge and wisdom is never unfathomable, that is why.

Good or bad, “a tree is known by its fruit” Matthew 12:23,
So, we might easily judge progress based on what you see,
It is different from 2nd Corinthians 5:7, “walking by faith,”
If one apple from the barrel is diseased, continue to taste?

Fact! Churches run on money, without it they cannot survive,
And how can they get your $$$ if you’re not there to tithe?
Same for those preachers who come into your home via TV,
Where we’re edified has the right to our hard earned money.

Luke Easter is a poet who writes about things that are very close to the heart of Salem-News.com. Another former U.S. Marine, Luke heals the world with an approach that reaches people on a different level, one known for centuries, yet too often forgotten in the one we live in.

We live in a world of social & economic injustice. The main reason for founding America in the first place was to relieve the oppression of the King of England. Patrick Henry said it best, “give me liberty or give me death.” And yet, all too often death seems to be the only way out. Why is there such a high suicide rate especially among teens, in the land of the free & the home of the brave? What makes headlines? Good news? Ha! More depressing stories than anything else. I feel poetry takes an edge off the hurt of bad news while still delivering it but in a, “glitzy” sort of way. Giving a different perspective. Kind of like slap in the face as opposed to a knife in the back. At least with the slap you’ll live to see another day and you will know whom it’s from. I wasn’t here for the beginning of the world but at 59, I just might be here for the end.

Even though it’s still a knife, rhyme poetry helps to dull the blade. And that’s my job. You can write to Luke Easter at: lyricsfromlucas@aol.com
