(SAL;EM) - The expansion of Modern Building Systems’ corporate offices in Aumsville is complete. The new addition features 4,000 sq. ft. of new space including conference rooms, sales offices, storage and a large new reception area. Over 75 local business people attended the Open House, which provided tours of the facility.

Jim Rasmussen, President, stated, “The office expansion will allow clients to appreciate some of the details and quality that can be built into a modular building. The new conference room allows for large groups to gather, and with the wall features, the ability to do custom presentations. The addition also includes a display space which allows clients to select the finishes for their new buildings.”

The office ends up being a working display of MBS’s employees talents, as only the rock siding and granite counters were subcontracted. Tile, slate and granite, along with various types of carpet, unique ceiling design and lighting, rock and staggered lap sidings were used. The conference room features a carpet wall which allows for flexible displays and a smooth wall for projection of videos. The addition was fully wired for data and phone. The cherry casework and paneling showcases the accomplished work performed by their cabinet department.

MBS is working on several local projects. One project is a 4,000 sq. ft. building for the Salem Airport to be used as the new terminal for passenger airline service. This structure is six modular units placed together which has been designed to tie into the existing airport terminal and blend architecturally. Modular construction will allow them to complete the project faster than stick built construction.

Bill Steen, Project Manager, said, “We are excited about working for the City of Salem to provide a much needed terminal for the Salem Airport.” Other local projects being worked on include Truitt Bros., and a 20,000 sq. ft. addition to Woodburn High School.
