Two Wounded in Salem Drive-by Shooting

The second shooting in NE Salem in less than a week.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Salem Police Department responded to a drive-by shooting shortly after midnight Sunday morning in the 4300 block of Kale St NE. A 14-year old boy and his father, 34-year old Arturo Chacon, were both wounded in the incident. Both were transported by medics to the Salem Hospital.

The boy was subsequently transported to a Portland trauma center with a chest wound, but is now expected to make a full recovery.

Arturo Chacon Sr. is scheduled for surgery this morning for a leg wound and also is expected to make a full recovery.

Kale St NE was closed until almost 6:00 this morning while officers processed the scene for evidence.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Salem Police Department.
