(MELBOURNE) - The Sri Lankan government conducted a war without witness. Unfortunately, however much the government wanted to hide the truth, Channel 4 has brought the truth out. When the government officials are confronted with the truth, they come out with a blank denial, hoping the listeners will buy it. This is typical Sri Lankan style of hiding the truth under the carpet. The interviewers are used to this, and they have to think of innovative ways of cornering the intransigent diplomat. Here is a case in point. Prof Rajiva Wijesinha was interview by an Aljazera journalist on Human Rights Violations in Sri Lanka and you will see in this interview how he wrangles his way out. The standard answer these Sinhalese diplomats give, in addition to blank denials, is that the videos are faked or edited, yet to be proven that they had committed it, and a few other ways as you see in this tube. When asked why Sri Lankan government doesn't agree to an international investigation, their invariable answer is that they can't agree to every Tom, Dick and Harry asking for an investigation. In this case the Tom, Dick and Harry he referred to were US and UN. Another variation is that if they are given the proves, they will look into it. Like the Trincomalee 5, Sri Lanka is yet to produce reports on any of their investigations. Please view the tube.
