(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Sailors onboard U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer, USS Shoup (DDG 86), will arrive on June 4th for the Rose Festival. The ship will cruise along the Willamette River and moor between the Steel and Burnside Bridges before 4 pm. The Shoup, along with three Royal Canadian Navy ships and two U.S. Coast Guard cutters will be in Portland to celebrate the 102nd Rose Festival. The vessels will be in the city through June 8 offering public tours and participating in the annual festivities. The Portland visit offers the public an opportunity to tour onboard the ship and meet the Sailors as they showcase the ship's capabilities. It also gives citizens a chance to gain a better understanding of how the sea services support the Maritime Strategy and our national defense. "showcase the ship's capabilities"? are they going to fire a missile into Lake Oswego? Maybe incinerate Oregon City and kill half the people living there? Not sure what roses and the Rose Festival have to do with floating death dispensaries and missiles...but like all militaristic societies, we love our weapons and our kill-power. Im happy to see the Coast Guard there..they actually provide a service to America unlike our bloated military that takes and takes and delivers nothing but dead and wounded people and a society that is bankrupt...economically and morally. All we have left to flaunt is our Kill-Capabilities....no auto industry, no health care for our citizens (unlike every single other industrialized nation in the world)...but we can kill every man, woman and child in the world about thirty times over....wow.
