(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - Police say a father is responsible for the Murder of two Hillsboro kids yesterday. Their bodies were found by a hiker Friday around 1:00 p.m. in the Jackson Bottom Nature Preserve, along with the body of the father, who apparently took his own life. Hillsboro Police have released some new information in the murder-suicide case and they have identified the deceased. Lt. Michael Rouches with Hillsboro Police, says the person hiking on a trail near the Otter Marsh viewing area found the bodies of the perpetrator, 45-year old James Gumm of Hillsboro, and the children who are identified as 7-year old Tyler Gumm and 6-year old Kylie Gumm. They also lived in Hillsboro. Rouches said today, "Hillsboro Police preliminary investigation reveals that the two children involved, a boy and a girl, were shot by a 9mm handgun by their father, who then turned the gun upon himself. Upon discovery, all persons were deceased." Rouches says police learned during the investigation that Mr. Gumm was divorced and that he suffered from emotional problems. What a coward. Such a sickening story. Hmm, shall I kill the kids too, so they don't miss me? Ugh. Sad news.
