(SALEM, Ore.) - A shooting took place on a street near Silverton and Brown Roads early this morning. Detectives were called to a residence at 7:00 a.m., in the 3000 block of Surfwood Drive NE on what was reported as an adult male who had been shot. Once they arrived they found the male who was transported to the Salem Hospital with life threatening injuries. Deputies are attempting to locate a person of interest in the shooting, he is described as a Hispanic, male, adult, 5'07" to 5'08", with tattoos on both forearms. He was dressed in a white tee shirt, white shoes and long gray shorts that hung over the knee. During the initial investigation deputies did lockdown Scott Elementary, that lockdown was released and deputies do not believe there is any immediate danger to the public. Neighbors around the area of the shooting reached out on facebook, warning drivers that there was a traffic hold up with cars being stopped on Silverton Road as the police, along with K9 units, looked for the suspect. Salem-News.com was told that the victim may have been shot as many as six times, and that the shooting followed an altercation. This information has not been confirmed “on the record”. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time. The investigation is continuing.
