VA Medical Center Third Annual Welcome Home OEF/OIF Vets

Veterans attending will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to learn about services, benefits, compensation and pension, eligibility, OIF/OEF specific information and Women Veterans Programs.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Portland VA Medical Center says they will show appreciation to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF) Veterans with their Third Annual Welcome Home celebration event.

The Welcome Home event is Saturday, June 13th at PGE Park. OEF/OIF veterans and their families are invited to enjoy an evening at PGE Park as the Portland Beavers play the Fresno Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m.

"I admire all of our Veterans and especially our OEF/OIF Veterans and their family members who have given so much for the protection of others," Victoria Koehler, Portland VA Medical Center OEF/OIF Program Manager said.

"We are looking forward to a fun welcome home event and thank our Veterans for their service."

The Portland VA Medical Center and sponsors including the Portland Beavers, TriWest Healthcare Alliance, HemCon Medical Technologies, FLIR and BENCHMADE, are providing a game package to the Veterans and their families.

Veterans attending will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to learn about services, benefits, compensation and pension, eligibility, OIF/OEF specific information and Women Veterans Programs.

The event begins Saturday, June 13th, at 6:00 p.m. The location is PGE Park, and the game will be the Portland Beavers Vs. Fresno Grizzlies.

Highlights scheduled for the evene include:

  • an OEF/OIF Veteran who will sing the National Anthem
  • an OEF/OIF Veteran will throw out the fist pitch
  • an OEF/OIF Veteran will sing God Bless America during seventh inning stretch
  • On field activities between innings
  • Kids Court Activities

Tickets are limited and RSVP is required. OEF/OIF Veterans who would like to attend can RSVP by Email to Welcomehome@va.gov or calling 503-808-1920.
