Neighbors Help Police Catch Burglary Suspect

Drug usage may be a contributing factor to the arrest.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is crediting neighbors for helping them catch a man who broke into a northeast Salem home Monday night.

At approximately 6:22 PM, Deputies responded to 4057 Beverly Ave NE, on a report of an unknown male breaking into a residence and physically assaulting the female homeowner.

The suspect then fled the residence and broke into a parked vehicle in the same neighborhood.

Upon Deputies arrival the suspect fled on foot.

After a foot elude, the suspect was apprehended as he was attempting to break into another vehicle.

Neighborhood residents assisted deputies in taking the suspect into custody.

The suspect was transported to Salem Hospital for evaluation and then later lodged at the Marion County Jail.

Drug usage may be a contributing factor to the arrest.

The suspect, 23-year-old Mario Garcia-Sanchez, of Salem, was lodged on charges of: Burglary, Kidnapping, Assault, Harassment, Unlawful entry into a Vehicle, Criminal Trespass, Theft, Resisting Arrest and Criminal Mischief.
