Oregon`s ONLY Future:
Tax Foundation
Must Be Restored

Balance, Fairness Demanded to End State-Funding Debacle.

(SALEM) - You can test the major concept yourself, right at home: Pick up any handy object, rest it on your open hand. Then simply snatch the hand `out-from-under".

Be Prepared !: Whatever you were `funding" by support you supplied will plummet downwards. Without due care, the descent to a hard-landing can be disastrous.

That is what is happening, has already happened, and will continue to happen -- if we are so neglectful as to allow it to take place, any longer, in a democracy where our voices rule -- even yet, and even against `corporate campaign contributions".

Most economists will use precisely this demonstration if you ask them what happens when public services supported by state-level taxation are left UN-funded as support is removed. The only kind still arguing the point reside on the supply-side, and believe in that napkin-drawn `Laffer Curve" -- so aptly named over the past thirty years of failed-demonstration dollar-management.

It matters little whether removing the support is rapid or comparatively slow -- when it is `out-from-under", down will tumble whatever was being held up -- whether it is your hand-removed-something, or Oregon dollars disastrously cut-away.

Think of it, if you wish, with whatever you held up representing the Oregon educational system from K-through-graduate school. OR if that is too painful to contemplate, try seeing all those healthcare child-victims --some hungrier than others-- scrunched-down in the hollow of that kindly supporting hand. Is THAT any "better" ??

OR -- well, there is only so much you can teach yourself, no matter how often you snatch away that solid support so essential for whatever you wish to put into that "hand".

Recently we had a sharp disagreement with another local daily newspaper, finally forced into the public channels by their own cynical `endorsement" for a demonstrably-deficient candidate to replace Governor Ted Kulongoski.

Ninety percent of other Oregon editorial endorsements went to another primary-level GOP candidate -- which should suggest to you something concerning the approach and `probing protocol" exercised --or NOT-- by our local chain-unit in corporate management noted for dollar drive more than for journalistic achievements, local or otherwise.

But that same daily recently presented solid proof in its own columns for the overwhelming importance of the tax-based and fundamental funding issue itself in this campaign: Three side-by-side columns, `voiced" by the opposing other-party candidates for that same Governor`s office, powers, major principles and probable actions.

Every one of those three presented one or more basically elemental, common-sense, economically-sound, planned programs for state-level demanded improvements --that are obviously never going to happen without due, direct, now-desperate changes in our state access to essential funding.

That is `the heart of the matter", as most Oregonians now very well have come to know -- whether they are ready to admit the necessity, and/or ARE NOW READY to consider what must be done, and how rapidly and radically it must be accomplished.

You can take your pick, as you will be responsible to do when you finally VOTE.

But no matter how you slice it --or snatch away that hand !-- there is no getting around the fact that the time has come, in Oregon.

We can pay the piper, and begin the dance all over again with further blessing for brighter and smarter cost-collection -- OR we can still cavort and contort while trying to keep up with the destructive rhythms to which we have been conned into accepting -- while far too many Oregonians slide steeply on down to personal disasters and into economic depressions from which they may never recover.

What we cannot do, in good conscience --or completely out-of-it-- is to support any `endorsement" for our top administrator, charged with our economic and social future, who is openly PLEDGED to perform as promised: `NO tax-RISES !!" --to a controlling party-cult already in deep decline nationally.

All you need do is wave-your-hand --under any simulation you choose for Oregonians depending on Oregon support from friends, neighbors, the `new" Governor -- and the Legislature.
