(SALEM, Ore.) - Deputies in Marion County responded to a report of possible human skeletal remains that were located on a small island in the Willamette River, between Salem and Independence, Oregon. The call came in around noon Sunday.

Sgt. Kristin Knutson with the Sheriff's Office says that at this time, deputies confirm that the remains are in fact human, and the investigation is continuing.

"Any persons or Agencies having information regarding missing persons, should direct questions to Detective Mike Myers with the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 503-540-8007."
