(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Investigators in Yamhill County say a man died in an overnight crash approximately 5 miles east of Newberg on Wilsonville road. The call came in just after 11:00 PM, and deputies were sent out to the location of the single vehicle rollover crash. Deputies say they learned that a 2001 Honda civic coupe driven by 19-year old Carlos Alberto Marroquin of Newberg, and occupied by 18-year old Brittney Marie Jones of Newberg, 18-year old Crystal Simon of Wilsonville, and 19-year old Nicholas Thatcher of Wilsonville, had crashed. They believe they were traveling east on Wilsonville Road and apparently lost control on a corner resulting in Nicholas Thatcher being ejected from the vehicle. Nicholas Thatcher was not wearing a seat belt. He was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Emanuel Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Marroquin, Jones and Simon were all taken to Newberg Providence hospital by Newberg Fire department ambulance where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The crash is still under investigation by the Yamhill County Multi Agency Traffic Team.
