One Man Injured in Shooting at Cinco de Mayo Festival in Downtown Portland

It does not appear that the shooting is related to the event.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - On Tuesday May 6, 2015, at 5:26 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting at the Cinco de Mayo Festival in Waterfront Park.

Officers and medical personnel responded and located one gunshot victim, who suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He has been transported to a Portland hospital for treatment.

Initial information indicates that the shooting occurred along the seawall, North of the Morrison Bridge and the suspect fled the area on foot, possibly boarding a MAX train.

The suspect first ran northbound from the shooting scene and possibly got on a MAX train. Police stopped a few trains in the area but did not locate the suspect. Investigators have now identified a 20-year-old male detained at the Rose Quarter Transit Station as the suspect in the shooting.

He was arrested and transported away from the scene as the investigation continues.

According to Investigators, the 19-year-old male victim was involved in a dispute with the suspect before the shooting, which occurred along the seawall, just North of the Morrison Bridge.

The shooting location is outside the Cinco de Mayo Festival and it does not appear that the shooting is related to the event.
