(PORTLAND, Ore.) - On Sunday, May 20th, 2007, Sleep Country USA, the Northwest’s largest seller of premium mattresses, will host it’s newly introduced “Pajama Bowl” at Big Al’s in Vancouver, WA. The event is designed to raise money for Oregon’s foster children and to give one lucky team of five bowlers the opportunity to each take home a brand new Simmons® Beautyrest® mattress set, also known as the “Bowling Ball” mattress. Wear Pajamas to the Bowling Alley? Yes! Sleep Country USA invites its community of charitable adults and children to participate in its first Portland-area “Pajama Bowl,” and help to increase awareness and raise money for the nearly 5,000 foster children in the state – all the while having a ton of fun. In addition to potentially winning a brand new mattress set, the event will feature prizes, giveaways and team photos taken by volunteers from Trillium Family Services, one of Sleep Country’s foster organization recipients, to commemorate this daytime pajama party. Can I Wear the Ones with the Duckies? Absolutely! The Portland Pajama Bowl offers two start times – 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM – and will take place at Big Al’s, located at 16615 S.E. 18th Street in Vancouver, Wash. Participating is fun and easy! Interested bowlers simply need to form a team of five (adults and children) and register online at sleepcountry.com or at any Sleep Country USA store in Oregon. The goal of the event is to have a blast and raise money for a great cause. With this in mind, each team of five will be required to raise a minimum of $250 in sponsorship money (only $50 per person) to participate. Each team can donate their sponsorship dollars to any of the recipient foster care organizations listed on the registration form. No Time for a Nap! Spread the Word for a Great Local Cause. “The success and growth of the Sleep Country Foster Kids program is a priority for us,” said Terry Horsley, executive vice president of marketing and merchandising, Sleep Country USA. “By adding fun events like the Pajama Bowl, we are able to give area foster organizations tens of thousands of dollars in cash, along with the key material items that we collect during our six annual drives. These contributions are the result of the community doing their part to give back, which supports our belief that while not everyone can be a foster parent, anyone can help a foster child™. We expect the Portland-area Pajama Bowl to match the success of our first event in Washington, which raised nearly $40,000 for area charities.” Don’t delay! Register Today. The deadline for mail-in registration is May 12th. Phone-in registration will be available after this date at (253) 236-0873.
