(SALEM) - Though it has been an uphill battle, Palestine is now officially recognized as a state or country, and its leadership is to be recognized as the "government of Palestine" according to the United Nations. This is a huge development for Palestine, a country that was largely ceded to Israel during the late 1940's, and again divided and seized 20 years later, during the "Six Day War" in 1967. Now that the recognition has taken place, advocates for Palestine are stepping up to see that the country is accepted by agencies like Microsoft, and added to Bing Maps. The following petition(s) were submitted to Salem-News.com by Dr. Parasaran Rangarajan, a noted activist and writer from the Tamil community, who has worked closely with our agency in reporting the Genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka. Petition: "If you do not have one already, please create a Microsoft account to vote to include the State of Palestine on international maps on all Microsoft products including Windows 8 and Bing Maps via virtue of the following 2 petitions. To Whom It May Concern: The State of Palestine was voted to become a non-member observer State in the United Nations General Assembly via Resolution 67/19 in November of 2012. In accordance with operative paragraph 8 of the attached United Nations Legal Memo which states that there are no legal impediments to referring to the occupied areas under the 1967 borders of the West Bank and Gaza as "Palestine": 1. Bing Maps must include and refer to the occupied territories as "Palestine". Please vote yes to include the State of Palestine on international maps. UN Legal Memo: pdfhost.net/index.php?Action=DownloadFile&id=f552e8d3b47b12c73ada1b808743568a Special thanks to Dr. Parasaran Rangarajan
