UPDATE: Salem Police Still Searching for Suspect who Shot Woman in West Salem

(SALEM) - Salem police are searching for an armed suspect who shot a woman in the 500 block of Gerth Ave. NW around 9:00 PM Wednesday night.
Salem police spokesman Lt. John Hoffmeister says a woman was shot during a robbery, when the suspect tried to steal the woman's purse.
Hoffmeister would not what condition the victim was in at this time only that she was transported to Salem Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Last night's search was concentrated around the following streets and neighborhoods: Ruge St, Franklin St., Elm St., and Kingwood Ave, and Wallace Marine Park.
Police are urging residents to stay indoors until the suspect is apprehended.
