(SALEM) - Salem Fire Department crews responded to a call for an unknown substance at 3126 Kettle Ct. SE at 11:02 AM on Tuesday..

Chris Riffle with Salem Fire says the first arriving firefighters reported that a small quantity of a gray powder was found by an employee working at Kettle Foods.

On Monday, a white powder substance was discovered in an envelope at the state office of Veteran's Affairs. Needless to say, employees at Kettle Foods took the finding seriously.

None of the 75 employees working at the time were evacuated from the building or reported feeling sick from the unknown substance.

Riffle says the Salem Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Response Team was called to Kettle Foods and conducted tests on the substance. They determined that the substance was pancake flour.

This just demonstrates that we are being trained to be a nation of sheep. Big Brother wants us to be fearful of everything, and to blindly rely on government to be our savior in all circumstances. Whatever happened to common sense? Since the fire department does not carry around a mobile lab for analysis of this stuff makes it clear they did not determine the stuff to be pancake flour by chemical analysis. It is apparent they determined that from simple observation of the circumstances at the scene. Something any halfway intelligent employee at the scene should have been able to do.
