(ALOHA, Ore.) - Police say a ten-year old boy was bitten today while riding his two-wheeled "razor" on a sidewalk in Aloha. A dog reportedly came from across the street and attacked the boy at about 1:10 p.m. His injuries are not life threatening and the dog has been quarantined, according to Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The boy reported that he was riding his razor down the sidewalk when the dog came running across the street and started to bite him on his legs, Thompson said. "The boy was able to stay on his feet and kick at the dog while a neighbor and the boy's father came to his aid. The dog broke off the attack when the two adults came running over to the boy." Thompson says the boy suffered several bite wounds on both of his legs. Deputies contacted the owner of the Pit Bull, 35-year old Brian Rader who lives at 17735 SW Blanton Street. He was cited for violating the Washington County Dangerous Dog ordinance. According to Washington County Animal Control, this is the third documented bite from the same dog. The dog is currently being quarantined at the Bonnie L. Hays animal shelter in Hillsboro, where it will remain for ten days. BSL laws have been proven to NOT work. In places where "pit bulls" have been banned, it hasn't decreased the number of dog maulings. Why? Because stupid people just get another breed of dog, such as a rottweiler, german shepherd, husky, etc. Also, "pit bull" isn't a breed of dog. It is now used as a term used for over 20 different breeds and their mixes. Heck, even a boxer/lab would probably be labeled a pit bull if it bit someone. The American Pit Bull Terrier has been around forever, yet it is only recently that they have a bad reputation. Even fighting pit bulls were kept around humans, as they were bred to be aggressive to dogs and not people, just like the Dachshund was bred to kill badgers and not toddlers. In fact, American Pit Bull Terriers are amongst the highest scoring breeds for temperamanet testing - averaging higher than a Golden Retriever I believe.

At what point in our Nation's history do we STOP thinking of pitbulls as really nice doggies and ban them in the U.S. as the elderly and children attacking cowardly filthy breed which they actually are?

Thank goodness Salem's zoning ordinance doesn't worry about little things like pit bulls, the better to concentrate city attention on the real threats, backyard hens.
