(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Catcher Holdings, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: CTHH) , (catcherinc.com/), a leading provider of standards-based solutions that address high-speed mobile computing for the harshest and most demanding application environments today announced the Company has received an initial contract from a major defense and information technology contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense. Under the purchase agreement CATCHER(R) Rhino hardened mobile computing and communications platforms will be deployed by U.S. military forces in Iraq and Afghanistan for force protection applications. The initial contract calls for the delivery of 12 Rhino devices that will be outfitted with a highly innovative force protection-oriented software suite to be used for GPS-based mapping, video surveillance, intelligence gathering, data collaboration and other applications. "This force protection application is indicative of exactly what the Catcher platform was design for, namely data gathering, convergence and communication within the harshest of real world operating environments. These harsh environments place extreme demands on mobile computing and communications technologies," commented Gary Haycox, Chief Executive Officer, Catcher Holdings, Inc. "We believe our product was selected for this contract not only due to the extreme survivability, but also due to the intelligence gathering features built into the unit. Our unique integration of enhanced GPS, still and full motion video cameras, communications capabilities, and biometric identification features, such as fingerprint identification and iris scanning, make the CATCHER Rhino highly desirable for security and other mobile applications." The CATCHER Rhino is a convergent device, produced by Catcher Holdings, Inc. The product is a ruggedized mobile computer with integrated GPS, voice, data, biometric and a suite of communications technologies. The computing platform, built to be MIL-STD 810F compliant, is based on embedded Intel chipsets, features an 80 Gigabyte hard drive and up to 2 Gigabytes of random access memory, dual batteries and a 6.5" sunlight readable touch screen display. Additional features include two video cameras with digital watermarking capabilities, biometric sensors including a fingerprint scanner an optional iris-scanning camera and a digital voice recorder. A unique emergency alert attribute of the Rhino features a "Panic Button" that when depressed automatically begins recording the audio and video events that occur. A wired and wireless communications suite which includes Bluetooth, Wi- Fi-802.11 b/g and Gigabit Ethernet is standard.
