(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon Community Foundation is celebrating two new beginnings this week. They have a new office, located at 707 13th Street SE in downtown Salem. And, they have a new Regional Director, Maureen Thomas. She was appointed as the new Director, North Willamette Valley, for OCF in January of 2008. OCF says that Thomas’s position was created due to an increasing need for OCF’s services in the county areas of Marion, Polk, Yamhill; and Lincoln City. She will serve as a resource for regional nonprofits, charitable gift planning, and volunteers; serve with the regional Leadership Council; and build awareness of OCF – its mission, goals and service to the State of Oregon’s nonprofits. Thomas will stay apprised of community needs, work with people throughout the region, and assist with achievement of charitable goals. Thomas is a lifelong Oregonian who has spent her career involved with non-profit organizations in Oregon. Her most recent position was Executive Director of Mission Mill Museum in Salem. She currently serves on the steering committee for the newly founded Nonprofit Association of Oregon. OCF is a statewide nonprofit organization that administers permanent charitable funds established through gifts and bequests from individuals, families, businesses and other organizations. OCF was established in 1973 by community leaders who saw the need for a common investment and grant management vehicle for private charitable gifts. OCF provides a variety of charitable fund and gift options to help Oregonians make a difference and ensure that a wide variety of critical needs in Oregon are met each year. OCF currently manages over 1,400 permanent funds with assets over $990 million. The Oregon Community Foundation open house is for volunteers, donors and nonprofits on Wednesday, March 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Dye House, Mission Mill Museum. Eric Lindauer, President of the Board of Directors for OCF and member of the North Willamette Valley Leadership Council, will be hosting the open house.
