Half a Million Americans Prepared to Take Down George Zimmerman

No law should be used to cloak racism and murder.

(SALEM) - I have a feeling that the murder/racism suspect George Zimmerman is going down one way or another. This kid that he killed, was just a boy, he wasn't even 18-years old. Trayvon Martin was an aspiring A and B student who was interested in flying, and was an athlete, from a solid family with no criminal background.

But even that wasn't enough to save his life from the racist policies of the Republicans, the NRA and every other pollution bin of a politician who voted to allow deadly firearm crimes to become non-crimes in U.S. states. An estimated half million people demonstrated today all around the United States, but particularly in Florida, calling for justice.

I've had people trying to post comments on our story about how, "Zimmerman was on the ground being punched when he shot Trayvon Martin." I only hope that is true and that the poor kid got some good shots in before Zimmerman robbed his life, as this armed man tried to live out some kind of a twisted fantasy.

The facts according to police, tell a straight story about how Zimmerman targeted this teenager to report Martin’s "suspicious" behavior, which he described as "just walking around looking about."

The police dispatcher tape recorded him saying, "This guy looks like he is up to no good. He is on drugs or something."

Zimmerman told the dispatcher that he was observing a person who had his hand in his waistband, was holding something in his other hand, and was walking around slowly in the rain looking at houses.

In retrospect, it sounds like Martin was possibly standing and walking in a circle, because he was on the telephone, which he was, right up until the moment before Zimmerman killed him. In his pursuit, Zimmerman had alarmed Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman was specifically told by a dispatcher, and it is recorded, that he not take any action because police were on their way.

But Zimmerman wanted some action, he wanted to hurt somebody with his gun, because he felt powerful, and he did exactly that. Martin was singled out because he was Black, he was followed because he raised suspicion, because he was Black. He lost his life because he didn't act in a manner consistent with Zimmerman's expectations.

From a statement taken from Martin's girlfriend, who was on the phone with the teen with the fatal incident happened, we know that Trayvon Martin was concerned about a "strange man" following him.

At this point, on his phone with 911, Zimmerman reported that Martin had taken off.

His girlfriend says she advised him to run.

She also reports hearing Martin say "What are you following me for?"

This is followed by a man's voice responding "What are you doing here?"

At that point, Martin's girlfriend says she heard the sound of pushing and that is when the telephone line went dead.

If by any chance Martin had Zimmerman, 'on the ground", it was a result of an attack by Zimmerman that the man obviously was not able to handle without using deadly force. All of this, because a young man didn't "look right" in the eyes of an armed, dangerous man.

That is not the worst of it, according to Wikipedia:

A part of what Zimmerman said on the tape is unclear. Some have heard the disputed words as "fucking coons", an ethnic slur used against black people, while others suggest it was "clueless", "course", or "punks". Others insist the words are too muffled to make any determination. Police have now said that they may have missed a potential racial slur on the call.

Police in Sanford, Florida say the "Stand Your Ground" law that was enacted in 2006, is now in effect in about 20 other states, providing a shooter with wide latitude to claim a killing was in self-defense.

It's too bad we never quit fooling ourselves about racism in this country, minorities, particularly Blacks, are still subject to ridiculous levels of treatment and as we frequently report, it is rife here in Salem, Oregon, you don't have to go to the former, defeated Confederate states to find how low IQ and racism are like two peas in a pod.

George Zimmerman is a heartless murderer and I hope and pray along with that half a million rallying in the south today, that this tragedy can be one of the key events to unlock the patterns of violence put into place by a nation with just a remnant of its once established middle class, ruled by uncaring guards of greed and indulgence without real leadership.

And even if Florida is a pro-murder state, the federal government does not agree, and an investigation has been launched by the U.S. Justice Department. They know a racially motivated hate crime when they see one, let's hope that rolls right over the top of these unjust state laws.
