(SALEM, Ore.) - Rebecca R. Maitland will become vice president and general manager of the Reed Opera House effective May 1st, 2009. The news was announced by Roger Yost, president of QA Properties, owner of the Reed and other downtown landmarks. He added, “I’m confident her management style will continue to infuse an aura of excitement in our historic property, with its exclusive shops, galleries, restaurants and Salem Repertory Theatre.” Ms. Maitland joined the Reed staff as Director of Marketing in August 2004, after operating her own marketing company, Western Media; hosting morning radio shows in several western cities, and working with Sheraton Hotels in the hospitality industry. “She is a gifted and creative thinker who shares my love of art, music and theater, and will continuing the Reed’s commitment to Downtown Salem’s cultural renaissance,” Yost said. “Her promotion will also free me to devote more time to managing our other properties during the challenging months ahead.” Ms. Maitland has frequently teamed up with Suzi Bicknell, executive director of Go Downtown Salem, a Reed office tenant, to maximize events during First Wednesday celebrations. Ms. Maitland's primary responsibilities will be to manage the 66,000 sf opera house with its 46 tenants and actively leased Trinity Ballroom. She will also continue in her corporate role of marketing director of all QA Properties, which include Alessandro’s Ristorante & Galleria, the Capitol Center, Vick Building and the Apartments at Cinnamon Lakes.
