(MADRID) - The U.S. cable network WGN America is filming the series "The 10 Commandments." The fiction is taking a fresh impetus from the success of "The Bible." And this is not the only production underway on the Old and New Testaments. "The Bible" gave many clues about the interest of viewers this television genre. Issued worldwide, it got an audience of 13.2 million viewers in the U.S. and 100 million globally. I recently saw the movie "The Passion of the Christ" directed by Mel Gibson, who has impressed me. I suggest to Gibson to adapt the movie to the small screen through a miniseries. Many films have dealt with the life of Jesus of Nazareth. The Christian spectator, who knows the historical facts which nourish his faith, is very strict. He do not accept anything when it comes to representing his Lord. The gospels include a multitude of stories, parables , miracles, teachings, travels..., in which numerous characters are involved. To bring unity to all, and to present them in an attractive and credible way, is not easy. Mel Gibson got a reasonable idea, which no one had undertaken so far: to make a vibrant and detailed, but not syrupy film, which focuses on the Passion. Gibson was right with the centralizing element of the film: Christ came to the world driven by love, to redeem us from sin and accepted to accomplish it with his passion and death. He has a mission, a sense, and those terrible sufferings are not a failure, but made us free, and lead to the resurrection. Since Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Olives, he was subjected to all sorts of harassment. They forced him to put ridiculous clothes, stripped him, savagely whipped and crowned him with thorns. Gibson's great merit is to provide the look of the Virgin Mary, very well played by Maia Morgenstern (pictured). The viewer suffers, with her, the pains of her Son (Source: decine21).
