(SALEM) - Salem police arrested two men early Friday morning while they were prowling South Salem driveways. The men were spotted by a home owner just after 4:30 AM peering into cars parked in a driveway at 2883 Miners Way SE police said. An officer found the men about a block away, coming from another driveway. After being questioned by the officer, one of the men said they were thinking about stealing gas. Police believe the men might also be involved in a pair of West Salem burglaries that occurred the night before. The 1978 Chevy Van they were driving matches the description of a van involved in those burglaries police said. The van was impounded and police are obtaining a search warrant. Emmanuel A. Cortes and Jason Scott Brown, both 20, were logged at the Marion County Jail on criminal trespass charges. Yes! Kudos to the Salem police. My truck was broken into about a month ago. Marion County said they would not take finger prints because it would do no good. HMMM! Could these be the cullprets that stole my stereo. Now we may never know! THANKS MARION COUNTY, I will remeber this come fundraising time....

It is that time of year again, statistics show that when the weather gets nicer, the criminals come out in droves. Kudos to the alert homeowner, and to Salem Police Department. Thank you.
