(SALEM) - Long time peace activists, Jerry and Sis Levin, will report on the nonviolent struggle for justice and peace in Palestine on Tuesday, April 18th at 7:00 PM at the Jason Lee United Methodist Church in Salem.

An experienced television reporter, Jerry tells a powerful story.

Jerry Levin was CNN's Middle East Bureau Chief in Lebanon in 1984 when he was kidnapped by extremists. Sis helped engineer his escape eleven months later with the help of Muslim, Jewish, and Christian friends.

As a means to create an authentic peacemaking environment, the Levins, who are based in Palestine, work on projects that promote nonviolence and report about the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Jerry is a full-time volunteer with Christian Peacemaker Teams based in Hebron, while Sis is a full-time volunteer consultant to Palestinian nonviolent peace-building organizations which train teachers and young adults how to teach peace and nonviolence in the classroom. The Salem event is sponsored by Salem Palestine Solidarity Group for Peace and Justice.

Jason Lee United Methodist Church is located at 820 Jefferson Street NE in Salem, Oregon, at the corner of Winter Street, Jefferson Street, and Fairgrounds Rd. Those attending should enter the door on Jefferson Street and come down the hall to the dining room.
