(SALEM) - One of the Central Willamette Valley's most notorious sex offenders will remain in prison for at least the next two years. The state parole board yesterday denied William Henry Dufort's first chance at parole saying he remains an extreme danger to the public.

Dufort, 67, is the former director of the Children's Farm Home for troubled youth in Corvallis. He was arrested in 1990 after a former resident alleged Dufort abused him 25 years earlier. Dufort is serving a 48-year sentence for sodomizing and sexually abusing six teenage boys between 1987 and 1989. Crime Victims United of Oregon urged the parole board to deny Dufort's parole because he is a danger to the public, has shown no remorse, and blames his crimes on his homosexuality.

He can next go before the board in March 2009.

He should blame his crimes on his pedophilia. Talk about the dumbing-down of the population; this is like a guy that went after young girls putting the blame on his heterosexuality.
