Ukraine--Do you know? Why not??

Do you know according to polls if Crimeans were allowed to vote they would join with Russia?

(JAMESTOWN, RI) - How about the irony or even the humor of John Kerry condemning Russia for “invading another country on a trumped up pretext”? One might think media outlets would point out just how foolish his scolding sounds in light of our invasion and occupation of both Iraq and Afghanistan on “trumped up” claims. But US mainstream media is a mere parrot for the official US government line and would never point out the folly of John Kerry and our history.

Do you know that Crimea borders Russia and most residents of Crimea are Russian? Why don’t you know this?

Do you know Crimea was formerly a part of the Soviet Union and Nikita Khrushchev gave it to the Ukraine, some say while drunk, in 1954?

Do you know according to polls if Crimeans were allowed to vote they would join with Russia?

Do you know Russia has a huge naval base in Crimea along with 25,000 troops?

The Winter Olympics in Russia ended. The last time the winter Olympics were held in Russia, the US talked about a boycott because the Russians had invaded Afghanistan. Did media remind you of this?

Did you know the US has been pouring huge amounts of money supporting opposition groups in the Ukraine, despite the fact that they had a democratically elected leader? Why didn’t you know?

Did you know the US has approximately 700 military bases in foreign nations and is deployed in more than 150 nations around the world, while Russia has 0 outside the former Soviet Union?

Did you know US assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland’s intercepted phone comment of “F… the EU”, was because she was outraged the EU was proceeding to slowly in supporting opposition groups and bringing about “regime change” in Ukraine, which had a democratically elected government?

John McCain and Secretary of State John Kerry recently went to the Ukraine protests, cheered on the protestors, called for continued protests, and the US has given hundreds of millions to subvert the elected government.

Imagine our reaction if Putin and his Foreign Minister appeared with the “Occupy Wall Street” protest in downtown NYC, urged the protestors to keep up their protests, and gave the Occupy Movement hundreds of millions of dollars to initiate “regime change” in the US.

While the US supports protest groups in foreign countries, did you notice how quickly the US government along with state governments used all of their power in a concentrated move to smash the “Occupy” reform movement in this country? Has any media outlet commented on the apparent contradiction?

Why don’t you know important facts about the situation in Ukraine? Corporate media merely serves as a mouthpiece and echo chamber for the official line of the US government. It no longer questions, researches, analyses, or investigates; it merely acts as a pet parrot for the government and consequently you are left in the dark. There are always two sides to every issue and Democracy can only survive with an informed public.
