Body Found on Umpqua River Identified as Missing OSU Student

Positive identification was made through a dental records match.

(MEDFORD) - The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office has positively identified the body found Thursday afternoon in the North Umpqua River as 22-year-old Jeffrey Schmidt, from Medford.

Schmidt had been missing since a November 19th, 2006 traffic crash in that area.

Positive identification was made through a dental records match.

Schmidt and his girlfriend Quinn Do Truong were traveling together November 19th when their Jeep Wrangler went over an embankment and into the North Umpqua River.
