Defendant Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Murder

(SALEM) - Today, Nicky Dave Chavez pled no contest to Aggravated Murder with a Firearm for the October 16, 2011 shooting death of David Polanco, age 23.

Polanco's body was found in an apartment off Devonshire Ave. NE, Salem, Oregon at approximately 7:00 am after several people called 911 to report gunshots. He had been bound and shot multiple times.

Nicky Chavez and Jhosuamil Colon-Lebron were arrested around noon that day in California, just south of the Oregon border.

Chavez also pled no contest to Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He received a life sentence with a mandatory minimum of 30 years before he is eligible for parole.

Jhosuamil Colon-Lebron is currently serving 15 years for Robbery and Kidnapping. His pending Marion County murder charge is set for an appearance before Judge Mary James on March 12, 2013 at 1:30 pm.
