Horrors of Israel's Brutality Not Lost on Mideast Anchors

"Every time I hear that Israel is America's only friend in the Middle East, I remember that before Israel, America had no enemies in the Middle East." - Comment from a Jesuit

(SALEM, Ore.) - It isn't that we should all sit around crying every day, but the effects of Israel's murder of civilians, particularly during Operation Cast Lead; the murderous attack on Gaza two years ago that left almost 1500 dead and thousand upon thousand injured and maimed... was like dropping a bomb on humanity itself.

One place where the sympathies weren't clouded by the influence of the pro-Israeli lobby, were the news desks of our brother and sister journalists in the Middle east.

In the first clip, we see a dignified Al Jazeera anchor become emotional over the images of the slaughtered.

The Samouni Project is headed by our writer Ken O'Keefe who recently spent six months on the ground in Gaza exploring, researching and documenting this endless tragedy of civilian death from U.S. supplied Israeli weapons which they bear on the civilian population with no distinction between resistance fighter and family.

What is particularly haunting for us, is the fact that the heart breaking footage is of a senior member of the Samouni family, one of the hardest hit in Gaza.

The children of this family were gunned down in a way that senseless and needless barely begin to cover. We have shown you the interviews with the mother of Ahmed Samouni, the tiny boy who was shot twice in the chest by Israeli soldiers but managed to live for hours in his mother's arms.

He could have possibly survived, but the Israeli military (highly documented) blocked ambulance crews from reaching the scene and in fact they used one of the small boys for target practice after slaying him in the middle of the street.

American news anchors are frequently merely robots; in the Middle east however, they are very human.

I once produced a story about the Traveling Vietnam Wall being brought to Las Vegas, Nevada. A man emerged from a building unaware of what he was seeing. It turned out that he was a multi tour Vet who lost many friends.

His tears recorded for my story were absolutely the type of thing that reaches people, and our news anchor that night at KVVU FOX-5, Angelica Urquiho, was crying almost without control as the piece concluded and the camera turned back to her. That is what the unscheduled commercial break is for I guess.

The next video clip shows a female news presenter break down over the gruesome slaughter of a graduating class of Hamas police officers, young men who were trying to serve their fellow citizens by joining the world's law enforcement community.

Two years to the day after this attack started, our Reporter Ken O'Keefe stood at the exact place where all of these young men were cut down by Israeli bombs, many of which were illegal under international standards. Hamas is touted as a terrorist group but in fact they fight terrorists and some of the terrorists they engage, their most bitter enemy, are the Israeli Defence Forces, the 'IDF'.

There is no choice for those born in Gaza. This is their homeland and it is an historic, amazing place by every account, and it is full of terrible stories of attacks on civilians.

By contrast, the 'Hamas rocket attacks' which are still discussed at length by all western media, cost a total of 28 Israeli lives in all time. This is not insignificant in regard to the tragic deaths, but by comparison, the Israelis were killing far more Palestinians during cast lead with single bomb drops.

The worst thing of all is Israel's tendency to urge civilians to collect in particular 'safe areas' and then start dropping bombs on their heads, as the government of Sri Lanka did to the Tamils just two years ago,

When Israel and Sri Lanka are caught and fall under suspicion of having committed war crimes, they both cry 'human shield' to excuse their targeted deaths of civilians.

The YouTube page with this video begins with the following statement.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), said:

"The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind: Their LAND is one, their WAR is one, their PEACE is one, their HONOR is one and their TRUST is one" (Imam Ahmed)

Shouldn't that be "'Mideast Oinkers" Remember how gleeful these folks were on 9/11? No tears then.

Editor: If you could trade your lies for honey you would be covered in bees.  The biggest candlelight ceremony honoring Americans lost that died that day was in Tehran, go back to school and learn more before leaving comments like this.

Not a Jew Hater June 27, 2011 1:03 pm (Pacific time)

This is just another story from those leftists who hate the Jews. In fact, it seems this whole site is anti Jewish. Are you already building the ovens?

Editor: You're ridiculous and you should be ashamed of yourself, even if you mean it, are you trying to make Jewish people look bad?  Real Jews would never say anything like this when the abuse of Palestinians is the subject at hand.  In fact I think you are the Jew hater.

@Aisha2 -- You might ask yourself just why an Israeli-owned security company called ICTS let the so-called "bombers" through in Paris and Amsterdam. The same company also had security at the three U.S. airports from which the four 9/11 aircraft departed. Odd isn't it that the only time people slip through Israeli security is when they are supposedly going off to harm the US...?

Aisha2 June 27, 2011 10:07 am (Pacific time)

If you love the Muslim creeps so much, go live with them! THERE! not here! Imagine if we didn't have any of the Muslims here, we could travel on our airplanes without their foot and crotch bombs.

Tim King: Racist cow, crotch bomb indeed.

"Don't come back and write anything else, it won't be approved. "

hamas style of democracy?!? Aren't you a marine?? WTF happened to free speech?

Can I walk into your business and say any damned thing I want?  Do you honestly not comprehend that we are a business and we allow people to have a voice by choice, there are no 'rights' that force media to carry someone like you.  It's funny that you would even think a media group with credibility would allow your fictitious posts to exit, think about it.

Anyone could understand that when a nation is attacked, retaliation is normal; however, repaying a slap in the face with phosphorus and HE bombs is way more than a little over the top! Where is the UN in all of this? Why haven’t they placed independent referees (if you will) where this crazyness could be observed and honestly reported on? The world sat back on their haunches for too long during Hitler’s rampage against the Jews in the 1930’s and look at the end result. Doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result is not just stupid, it is truly insane. We all need to remember that children are children regardless of their religion, skin color, or country of origin. They deserve a childhood free of fear, bullets, and bombs. How can we expect them to learn and understand brotherhood when they witness their families being set-upon daily? Propaganda does not turn bullshit into truth, it only covers the smell temporalily. Unless Israel wants to be viewed as a nation of monsters, they need to make an honest attempt at reasonableness. They need to accept the Palestineans as equals in every aspect of life.

Alan Sabrosky June 27, 2011 4:22 am (Pacific time)

@ Hasbara-ites, losses in Gaza according to B'Tselem (an Israeli human rights organization) were 1385 killed, of whom 330-375 were Hamas combatants. The remainder included 107 women, 318 children and 248 police officers, most of them young cadets killed at their graduation ceremony when Israeli planes began their onslaught by attacking it. Truly hope that someday you get to see aircraft from the 5th and 6th US Fleets coming in low and fast over Ashdod and Tel Aviv....

Not amused. June 27, 2011 12:57 am (Pacific time)

Your story is in the best time-honored tradition of Nazi Germany. White is black, good is bad, the terrorists
"fight terrorism." I'm sure Hamas does some good for their people. Hitler made the trains run on time and jump started the German economy, while bringing death and destruction upon his country and the surrounding nations. Should we cry for all the German citizens who died and condemn the allies for putting an end to Murder Incorporated (Nazi Germany)? I'm sure you think so.

Editor: Do you think people are buying your backward argument?  It is Israel that behaves like Nazi's, didn't apply the courtesy to the Arab people that it expects for its own.  Israel apartheid=South Africa Israeli treatment of people in Gaza=Nazi.  You can try to convince people all day that you are not the total aggressors, but in fact it is Israel.  And what about land theft?  Let's hear your justification for that, should be entertaining.  We fight Nazi's you idiot, and then in spite of how bad you are we would turn around and defend you if need be.  I hope you are lying through your teeth and that you don't actually believe this stuff you're spewing.  That, or I suspect your paycheck is very good.

AMUSED June 27, 2011 12:51 am (Pacific time)

Are you foaming at the mouth? Your rabid commentary parrots what you believe at heart 'nobody loves Israel..." wrong wrong wrong. Plenty of us do and most rational people, while agreeing the Palestians are suffering, understand that a lot of it is the fault of their horrible leaders and refusal to accept their peace seeking neighbors. And by the way that includes Jordan.

Editor: I like how you brush past Israel.  You won't get an argument from me that Palestine has been fully abandoned by most, however Turkey, Iran and Iraq, or what is left of it, are nations that disagreed with your occupation and  oppression of Palestinians.  You have a fertile imagination, that much is for sure.  Are there good people in Israel?  Of course there are, I talk about them all the time.  However you need some serious work or you will always be on the racist side of things.  People are people....  Excuse me, I have to get 21 shots in my stomach now.

JoeD June 26, 2011 8:13 pm (Pacific time)

Liberal Idiots. What about Israely civilians. Theu don't have the right to live in peace. Alse there were 1400 dead most fof them were allignet to Hamas. Hamas placed guns in civilian areas. Speak the truth.

Editor: Sorry Joe, your sorry words fail to pass the truth test, do you know the truth and deny it, or do you simply believe bullshit?  I'm curious.  Those little kids who were killed are with you Joe, they're over your shoulder and they don't like you.  Your thoughts are like a disease.  Don't come back and write anything else, it won't be approved.

Dr.Zook June 26, 2011 10:59 pm (Pacific time)

Unfortunately, in war deaths to civilians and to combatants is all too common. If the Israeli's were so intent on killing all of the Gazans, I am sure that they could have done a much more efficient job of it. The fact that so few were either killed or injured is an indicator of the restraint that the IDF used.

Editor: No, you have pushed the ball much further than you should have, and your comment is cruel.  I take it you are OK with killing babies, or maybe you have already killed so many that you are forced to justify it? Visit Charles Manson lately?  California weather is a lot like Israel's.

I presume that Tom King would love to live in an environment where sirens sound on a consistent basis that rockets or mortar shells are coming toward his house. I presume that he lives in a crime ridden section of the city so that he can be holier than thou to prove his recklessness. get real, if people were sending weapons of destruction toward your homes, you folks in Salem, oregon would not turn the other cheek and accept death from terrorism as part of everyday living.

Tim King: Your attention to detail is very unfocused.   28 Israeli citizens have died in these rocket attacks, are you allergic to truth?  You think you are so superior that you get to kill people because you don't like them.  Israel is an apartheid state, an evil minded government intent on stealing and killing and lying.  Israel holds thousands of  Palestinians as political prisoners, no fairness, no heart..  And for what its worth, I've been on the ground in Iraq for plenty of rocket attacks, don't assume too much.

With regard to Hamas fighting various other terrorist group such as Al-Queda and other Shiite terrorists it is only for their own preservation and not for their love of Israel, a country that they refuse to recognize.

Tim King: You know absolutely nothing about it, that is clear.  Unlike the Taliban, Al Queda is imaginary, it is a CIA operation to overthrow the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.  People in Iraq and Afghanistan don't even know what you are talking about if you ask about Al Qudea, they don't even know. And for the record, nobody loves Israel if they understand the politics, in fact what is that?  I think you are talking about Palestine.

Tom King, get off of your far left leaning horse and see reality. Why is Gilad Shalit still a prisoner in Gaza? All that Gazans have to do is recognize Israel, release Gilad Shalit and declare themselves a peaceful nation.

Tim King: Nothing on God's earth would spare the people of Gaza from Israel's state terrorism and false desire for security which is an excuse for constant violence.  I don't know about Gilad Shalit, I have heart for all POW's and maybe someday when you let thousands be free, he will be repatriated.

TheAZCowBoy June 26, 2011 8:56 pm (Pacific time)

As the bankrupt US/NATO Afghan 'baby killers' get down to their last half of an empty gas tank and see that their treasuries have run out of Inca gold - You would think these low life resource thief colonist parasite would remember that this is 2011 and not 1911. With the Taliban 'bitch slapping' the Great Satan 'at will' these dayze, it won't be long before Hezbollah and Hamas will be raining its 50,000 missiles and rockets on Tel Aviv, Haifa and Dimona - not necessarily in that order, LOL!
