(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Police say a white male suspect robbed the Washington Mutual Bank in the Wood Village Fred Meyer store today just before noon, making off with ten crisp hundred dollar bills. Lt. Jason Gates with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office says the suspect handed a note to the teller indicating he wanted all the money she had, but no weapons were observed or implied. He was last seen leaving the Fred Meyer west bound on foot with the $1000.00 in large bills placed in his front pocket, according to Gates. Witnesses told investigators that he left through the west side main entrance to Fred Meyer. He was last seen continuing west adjacent to the Multnomah Dog Track located on 223rd north of Glisan. Gates says the suspect in this robbery matches the description of a suspect in two other robberies that occurred recently in the Portland area. "The first occurred at about 1:40 PM June 16th, 2007 at Bank of America in the Safeway store located at 69th and NE Sandy. The second occurred on June 19th, 2007 at the Washington Mutual located in the Hollywood Fred Meyer." He says he is the process of obtaining the bank surveillance photos for these robberies. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Detective Unit is working in conjunction with the FBI on this case. Anyone with information regarding the identity and/or location of this suspect is asked to contact the MCSO Hot Line #503-261-2847.
