(LINCOLN CITY) - The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 16-year-old girl from a cliff near Lincoln City around 4:00 PM Sunday.

Coast Guard Air Facility Newport launched an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter after receiving a call that a girl had become stranded near the top of a cliff in the vicinity of Lincoln City.

Coast Guard officials say the girl, who is from Salem, had climbed about two-thirds of the way up a 150-foot cliff before she realized she couldn't go any further and couldn't figure out how to get back down.

A rescue swimmer was lowered to the girl who was then lifted into the helicopter and taken to Lincoln City Hospital for observation.
