(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - Hillsboro Police report that Tualatin Valley Highway is closed in both directions at this hour between Brookwood and SW 229th due to a fatal MVA. Hillsboro Police and Fire Departments are on scene.

Henry Reimann with Hillsboro Police, says two cars apparently collided head-on.

"One car, with a single occupant, reportedly burst into flames upon impact," Reimann said.

"The fire extended into grass along the ditch. Hillsboro firefighters have extinguished the fire and requested the Medical Examiner. Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to search the area looking for any additional patients who might have been ejected from the heavily damaged cars, but found none."

Reimann says the two occupants of the second car are being treated at the scene by Hillsboro Firefighter/Medics and Paramedics from Metro West Ambulance.

Three engine companies from Hillsboro Fire Department responded to the scene. One company extinguished the resulting fire.

The second provided medical care to the two patients in the second vehicle.

The third company searched the area for additional patients and checked nearby residences for possible damage from flying debris.
