(SALEM) - Salem Police and Fire spent much of Saturday on scene at Cascade Gateway Park in Salem over a report of a missing 13-year old girl.

Salem Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says reports indicate that the young girl was last seen in the lake at Cascade Gateway Park.

The 101.2 acre Cascade Gateway Park is located in South Salem at 2100 Turner Road SE. It is a popular picnic spot with a natural lake and a creek that draws many local families.

Two of the girl's friends who last saw her, reported that the young girl went under the water and did not come back up.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office Dive time was called in and spent part of Saturday searching the bottom of the lake. Operations were halted at dark and will resume Sunday morning.
