Be Aware! Buena Vista Ferry to Close Next Week

The Buena Vista Ferry connects Polk and Marion Counties

(INDEPENDENCE) - Due to low river level readings, the Buena Vista Ferry will be closing on Wednesday, June 28th, for dredging and will reopen at completion of the project.

The river conditions have restricted the ferry's load ability and until the completion of the dredging project, it can only carry two vehicles at a time across the river. All heavy equipment that people wich to transport is at the discretion of the ferry operator.

Notifications will be made when the ferry is back in operation and Salem-News.com will release that information immediately.

The ferry operates along the Willamette River south of Independence. It is a historic site marking the existence of the Oregon town of Buena Vista, once an extremely important trade and transportation point for local farmers.

For more information call (503) 588-7979.
