(SALEM, Ore. ) - Early Wednesday morning, the Salem Police Street Crimes Unit and the Drug Activity Response Team arrested three people for possession and distribution of cocaine after a week long investigation.

About one week ago detectives were contacted by a citizen who reported buying cocaine from a local attorney, Westly Warner.

The informant agreed to work with detectives and as a result of the investigation Warner was arrested along with his supplier, 30-year-old Rodney Sauseda, a transient, as well as a female, 23-year-old Heather Unwin of Salem.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Warner's residence and as a result of the entire investigation a total of 37.2 grams of cocaine was seized. All three suspects were lodged in the Marion County jail charged with possession and distribution of cocaine.

Additionally Warner was charged with distribution of cocaine within 1000 feet of a school due to his house being that close to Four Corners Elemenatary School.

Hmmm June 10, 2012 6:59 pm (Pacific time)

Weird all of you say these nice things about him, when he was representing a convicted and confessed child molester, to not only get him out of the charges, but to get him visitation and rights to his victims back. Doesn't really seem like an attorney with great integrity to me.

Just another me February 19, 2009 10:37 pm (Pacific time)

Thank you to all that have given support and even a thank you to all that have an opinion. Truth is, he is just a man not a status symbol. Some day this will all be forgoten and those of you who are hurtfull and mean, will still be hurtfull and mean. At least an addict has a chance at recovery.

Daneal January 14, 2009 4:36 pm (Pacific time)

I have known Wes for 9 years. We were in law school together - he is absolutely brilliant, but can make poor decisions better than just about anyone I know.... For those of you who don't know him personally, back off. He is a caring person, wonderful friend and was an excellent attorney. He is also an alcoholic and an addict. No one is perfect. Some of us love him anyway. How about rooting for him to get better and learn from his mistakes instead of bashing him? Eh?? Good lord, he's a person, not a sideshow freak.

Client of wes November 10, 2008 11:14 am (Pacific time)

I was having to deal with a bad custody case fighting for my 5 year old daughter that I had already had full custody of, but the father of my child is one of those ones that never stops. Wes won my case, I was awarded that my attorney fees be paied back,he put the father of my child in contempt of court for lying and not paying for the child expert,I was awarded child support from $300.00 to $1,100.00 a month, parenting classes were issued to the father and step mother, standered parenting plan issued, which is the every other weekend, and the stress was over 2 years later. I belive that Wes is a Awesome attorney. He was still working on my case until he was sent away. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You Wes! my daughter now has a stable life because of you!

Funny, i know the girl and alot of have nothin nice to say. But in her defense i have to say before a certin boy who called her a "whore" introduced her to drugs she was actually a good girl. She also had some udnerliing personal issues and unless you have been there you wouldn't understand her. the girl unfortuantly got caught up witht he wrong people.

Me June 11, 2008 3:41 pm (Pacific time)

Thank you "wow" for your comments...everyone has done something...it's a shame that he got more than the abusive drug dealer! I know great people that have done more than Wes who walked away...anyone who knew Wes knows he did not deserve this and everyone who does not know him has no right to talk!

Wow May 26, 2008 12:01 am (Pacific time)

Just in case you wanted to know, 3 grams about 5 min of use.. So remember, stay away from the sauce, and stay away from those that snort the sauce.

paige March 23, 2008 11:52 pm (Pacific time)

nick dont act like your any better than heather is, your a very shady character yourself and really dont have any room to talk. heather and her family have been nothing but kind to me and im known heather for 5 yrs and shes not a bad person. Your a pig for saying what you have, dont you have anything better to do with your time?

Wow March 17, 2008 1:00 pm (Pacific time)

So many opinions out there. Good for you! Just a reminder to those of you who care, there is no such thing as a perfect world, nor a perfect person. And for those of you that hold Lawyers in that high of a regard, you may want to reconsider. Politics are politics and the man you are complaining about got three years, while the “drug dealer” got 18 months. Perception is reality in our world and Wes was made an example. Get over it, and for those of you dissing the guy, make sure you tend to your own back yard before you tend to others. And ask yourself if you have done anything stupid in your life. There is only one that can say they haven’t, and we will all meet the one when we die.

Missy March 16, 2008 11:58 am (Pacific time)

Hey "Ashley" is this your boss? LMFAO I interviewed with this guy! I knew he was a f-ing looser. He needs to get a brain and some jeans that don't have holes in em. Good job Wes. LOL F-ing unbelieveable!

nick mueller December 23, 2007 11:34 pm (Pacific time)

I dated Heather Unwin for 7 years. She was always a whore. Serves her right that crack head. man has she gained weight. suprisingly with all that coke she was doin

OAR October 1, 2007 10:29 am (Pacific time)

Do the crime, do the time. Wes ought to know that.

Dissappointed July 2, 2007 1:43 pm (Pacific time)

I too, went to law school with Wes and sat next to him in a couple classes. He was harmless, and not a bad guy. A schmuck? Sure. Obnoxious? Totally. But I'd never thought this is what would happen to the guy. Or rather, that this is how stupid he could be.

Junior please June 27, 2007 2:16 pm (Pacific time)

Wes wasn't "universally disliked". He was a schmuck, but a good natured one. I feel bad for him; it's clear he has a drug problem. But it's BS to say he "needed to be taken off the streets". Come down off your high horse and get a grip.

Junior June 26, 2007 1:45 pm (Pacific time)

I went to law school with Wes. He was vulgar, disrespectful, and was universally disliked. Trust me when I say that the Salem police did society a HUGE favor by taking him off the streets.

S.LaMarche; June 23, 2007 7:14 pm (Pacific time)

the thought of a lawyer having to do time for the crime makes me..,grin, quite a lot actually. Maybe he'll be detained in the same facility as Scooter, composing their memoirs?

tortfeasor69 June 23, 2007 10:38 am (Pacific time)

HERE'S THE PROBLEM Who is this 'citizen' informer? I saw the word 'citizen' and thought, what type of citizen purchases cocaine, then turns in their supplier, thus incriminating themselves? I'll tell you the type: the type that would say just about anything for immunity on unrelated charges. This is the story the police decided to tell the media? I'll wait until the trial before I make up my mind, but at least call a snitch a snitch, if for anything, for journalism's sake.

Grimace June 22, 2007 2:36 pm (Pacific time)

I was just curious how many of his cases now will go to retrial? "My attorney was high, that's why I lost my case... I want a retrial!!"

Mawari June 22, 2007 11:36 am (Pacific time)

How about some perspective? How much is each "hit" in grams? and how many dollars are we talking about? Just curious.

ashley June 22, 2007 10:30 am (Pacific time)

Alice you are very niave. You haven't even read the police report. stop jumping to conclusions.

Alice June 21, 2007 6:23 pm (Pacific time)

I am glad that this attorney was caught. It is unbelievable that someone, who supposedly defends those that are accused of similar crimes, is a common criminal himself. He lived only a block or two from me, so I am glad that kind of garbage is out of my neighborhood!

Sonny June 21, 2007 8:39 am (Pacific time)

hahaha...sucks for you.
