(SALEM) - Salem residents are going to be off Center this summer. The bridge on Center Street NE that passes over the sparkling waters of Mill Creek is up for replacement, and that means cars will have to drive around Center between 14th Street and 17th Street NE until October 16th. Residents like Adam Bradford who works downtown but parks east of Center Street, says he is glad that pedestrians will be accommodated by a temporary pedestrian bridge, as crews tear down the old one, built in 1914, to replace it with a modern bridge that will allow more elbow room for drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists. `I think it`s great. You can see how it bottlenecks right there, I think the investment into Salem is exciting."
