(BEND, Ore. ) - The Oregon Army National Guard launched a helicopter from Salem just before 6:00 AM today to aid in the search for a missing seven year old boy.

The Deschutes County Search and Rescue team led the search throughout the night and this morning will have assistance from the ORANG, the Civil Air Patrol, and rescue teams from Klamath County, Crook County and Jefferson County.

The helicopter, an OH-58 Kiowa, launched from the Army Aviation Support Facility 1 at McNary Airport.

Used primarily as an observation or command and control platform, the OH-58 is a state of the art helicopter well-suited to the mission.

The boy, Chase Otterbach, was last seen around 8:30 PM last night while riding a black and red motorcycle at an off-highway vehicle area about 25 miles east of Bend.

He was wearing black pants, a black t-shirt, and a red helmet.

The boy was camping with his family at the off-highway vehicle area.
