Our Human Rights Ambassador William Nicholas Gomes, was on the CII Radio program live today / tonight talking about his extensive human rights campaign.

William has had a number of positive government responses to his letters criticizing human rights violations. In more than one case, his appeals have held major weight. In Pakistan, a land activist being tortured by ISI officials, was rescued from their custody by higher level officials after they read Mr. Gomes' article.

One matter at hand is 25-year-old Mahmoud Sarsak is on his 83rd consecutive day of hunger strike, in protest of being held without charge or trial under Israel’s Unlawful Combatants Law, which provides even fewer legal protections than Palestinians held in administrative detention.

Despite claims that he would be released in July, Israeli authorities have yet to provide Mahmoud with an actual release date. During the visit with Ms. Neddaf, Mahmoud’s health was in such grave condition that he could only speak with her for a matter of moments.

William's letter on behalf of this man received a return response from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
