Details on Congressional Move to Impeach President Bush (VIDEO)

It is an amazing time in history and George Bush stands accused of a very grueling list of war crimes and violations of his oath of office.

Congressman Dennis Kucinich

(SALEM, Ore.) - George W. Bush probably isn't very concerned yet, but the water could heat up very quickly in the wake of a Congressional Impeachment hearing that took place this week. The President is being charged with a number of misdemeanors and high crimes.

It may be getting a surprising lack of media attention, but former Democratic presidential contender, Dennis Kucinich, has called for the impeachment of Bush claiming that he was deceptive toward the nation and that he violated his oath of office with the Iraq war.

C-SPAN and Air America went live as the Ohio representative introduced 35 articles of impeachment against Bush on the floor of the US House of Representatives. He says Bush and Cheney are guilty of many illegal and improper acts and yes for those who are wondering, Kucinich has not pulled his punch and he does allege that George W. Bush is guilty of a list of war crimes.

The Belfast Telegraph reported that Kucinich accused Bush of executing a "calculated and wide-ranging strategy" to deceive the American people and Congress into believing that Iraq was in possession of weapons of mass destruction and posed an imminent threat to the U.S. He didn't stop there either, further alleging that both Bush and Cheney lied to Congress and to the public over the reasons for invading Iraq in 2003. He also says they abused their offices in order to conduct the "War on Terror" following the 9/11 attacks.

"Bush misled the American people and members of Congress to believe Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction so as to manufacture a false case for war. President George W. Bush, by such conduct, is guilty of an impeachable offense warranting removal from office," Kucinich said.

He has already introduced a similar impeachment resolution against Vice President Cheney.

Bob Fertik of Democrats.com had a few things to say about this long anticipated move to take Bush to task, as we reported earlier this week on Salem-News.com. He told the Telegraph, "We've waited seven years to find one Member of Congress brave enough to stand up for our Constitution, for which generations of Americans have fought and died."

He added, "We are thrilled and honored that Dennis Kucinich has chosen to be that one genuine patriot."

"We congratulate him on his historic leadership, and pledge to do everything in our power to persuade Congress to adopt all 35 Articles and put George W Bush on trial before the Senate of the United States, exactly as the Founding Fathers wanted."

But Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House and outspoken Democratic leader, seems to be covering Bush's six on this one, and it leaves a large percentage of Democrats calling for the Impeachment of the President scratching their heads. Pelosi vowed previously to not allow Kucinich's Impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney to gain a footing, and the Impeachment of Bush she has declared is "off the table".

But the fact of the matter is that she does not have that kind of control over Congressman Kucinich and the 35 articles were read this week live to the nation. Kucinich told Speaker Pelosi at the start of the proceedings that "The House is not in order".

As reported by the Belfast Telegraph, these are the 35 points of Kucinich's case:

Article I

Creating a Secret Propaganda Campaign to Manufacture a False Case for War Against Iraq

"Anon" et al: Hope you-all see TIME's cover story "Great Wall of America" re billion-dollar barrier now under construction where feasible on border. Realities may amaze you, and even possibly inform some of your overblown unrealities. That's June 30 issue, worth close attention since we need to understand complexities far beyond what you even hint at. Read it and THINK !!-- if possible. DO believe most will come to see that it is truly "unsustainable". We need comprehensive attack on real problems, made evident via rational approach in the report, and here, too.

Henry Ruark June 21, 2008 7:15 am (Pacific time)

"Anon" et al: You overlook fact-of-life, friend/behind/tree: WE choose 'em, ELECT 'em, and must LIVE and DIE with 'em, too. For over 200 years, has worked pretty well, even for those too fearful who hide behind tree. WE are (probably !) smart enough to survive this debacle as we have all-else since '76; but not by hiding behind tree. We need to move as our famed Constitution tell us to when under internalized attack by malign leaders whose actions have proven their intentions. AND to hold each of us fully responsible for choices and actions, including use of First Amendment...not by hiding behind tree when making charges demanding both personal responsibility and accountability for any credibility.

Go ahead, waste our tax money. lets impeach all the politicians who spend money on illegals, keep our borders open, lying to the american people, trying to pass laws which are against our constitution, care more about the welfare of the terrorists and the illegals then the american people, making global warming a new religion which turned out to be nothing but a hoax. when was the last time a politician did something good for the american people? anyone????

S.LaMarche June 15, 2008 10:27 pm (Pacific time)

I hope, for the sake of our country, the impeachment proceedure continues and the truth is made public. The administration is a lie, based on lies, and we as Americans are responsible as well unless we do something about it,and for one, I'd like to know what was really wispered in the presidents ear in Florida on 9/11, Thank you very much.

Man, it is good to hear from you. Send me an email and update when you can... tim@salem-news.com

Mary C. et al: By Founder-intent and basic definition, "Impeachment" is meant to be "political". It is THE process for protecting OUR Constitution from predatory damage by those seeking malign influence for own ends, in defiance of governance system so established. As "process" it has strong protections built-in for those so charged, as history proves. IF protection of basic human freedoms "bores" you, suggest you need to change lifestyle, including values, while it is still there to provide you that opportunity. IF we do NOT act NOW, we allow desperately-damaging precedent for any further followers-on, already demonstrated via BushI/BushII cabal (and previous history, too.) IF we do nothing till escape at "end-of-term", we allow, again, damaging precedent and may well destroy even proper world-level Hague-action re "war crimes", via that fact, establishing doubts of the depth of depravity and any guilt-due, for what might be otherwise "clear case" for the Hague-action. What does America want ? We can shape and force action by what we tell Congress NOW on issue clearly set forth by Kucinich 35 Charges statement. To do nothing till end of term allows escape is to fail in Constitutional duty, and to renig and reverse what the Founders so presciently provided for precisely this situation, sure to occur in any human undertaking sooner rather than later.

bev June 14, 2008 6:04 pm (Pacific time)

We need to correct your confusion here---the President must be impeached because it is obvious that he is NOT upholding the constitution

mary contrary June 13, 2008 8:18 pm (Pacific time)

This attempt at impeachment is politically motivated and very boring to a campaign-weary people.

Henry Ruark June 12, 2008 9:17 pm (Pacific time)

To all: Here's one from our past history to keep in mind as one reads "the Big Thirty-Five" from Rep. Kucinich: "He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man... The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy this gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people": Samuel Adams ------------- To me, that demands solid participation as citizen responsibility, not only when we vote, but surely after eight years of testing action --and its results and truly desperate consequences-- are right out there in world-view and unavoidable any longer. Let the Constitutional process bequeathed to us by our Founders begin; whatever the outcome, we will then have followed-the-process to the very end they envisaged.

Impeachment has been shelved ...

Again, loser, get the hell out of here and take your long list of names and find another news organization to bother.

Linda June 12, 2008 3:36 pm (Pacific time)

THANK YOU, SALEM NEWS. You have more guts than the SF Chron and too many others who still call themselves "newspapers". Hah.

Henry Ruark June 12, 2008 1:42 pm (Pacific time)

To all: Never forget: It was just the THREAT of impeachment that made Nixon resign-to-avoid trial. That was basically a much simpler situation: Watergate. Here we now have THIRTY-FIVE obviously extremely serious charge-statements publicly out there in House records, and with "see with own eyes" real impact on national television, discussed in detail in the media. S-N's Editor Tim placed the entire Kucinich package right out here for all to see --and contemplate, in detail. SO this is unique sitution, like none-other, because now new-tech communications sets up public sharing of the very serious matter and all the materials involved, too. What more could one ask for, except wit, wisdom, will of people, properly responded-to by Congress ? "Participation" can now bring that about --if it is our real choice SO to ACT NOW.

Henry Ruark June 12, 2008 12:14 pm (Pacific time)

'Anon" et al: You must NOT have been "paying attention" to heavy and ominous disclosures over many past months. Your use of crayons fits YOUR case very well otherwise since it indicates a certain level of understanding --OR MISunderstanding, in this case. For details can only suggest you put away the crayon in your little snap-button case and turn to reading at somewhat higher levels --as in the WHAT HAPPENED book by McClellan. OR, if you will ID-self to Editor Tim, and come out from behind that tree, I'll send you PDFs of authoritative insider testimony by CIA vets nailing down facts re several impeachment articles in the Kucinich terrible-travail set Tim supplied. Meantime it might be easier for you if you simply check out the voluminous, detailed reports now being generated by close examination of these Kucinich indicting-lines, for sure appearing even in the MSMedia, and certainly to be heard-in-review in multiplied variety, at every level of even "far/Right-radio". Pass me the yellow, please !

Proud Dem June 12, 2008 10:57 am (Pacific time)

Bush did not uphold the oath Republicans, figure it out/

Anon June 12, 2008 10:45 am (Pacific time)

Sorry, guess I should of used crayons. The President take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. Dennis Kucinich believes the President shouldn't put in to practice the very oath he swore to protect and defend. So, since the President shouldn't be allowed to do so, then why bother having a military to protect that very same Constitution.

Henry Ruark June 12, 2008 10:28 am (Pacific time)

"Anon" et al: Can't tell from your words what stuff you swallowing, but go snatch-down enough more to finish off the job, please... That way the rest of us can get on with what's now demanded for survival of both nation and our American way of life, under neocon attack for 30 years.

Anonymous June 12, 2008 10:05 am (Pacific time)

What's the point of taking the oath if we just impeach everytime a president upholds the oath. For that matter, why bother with a military.

Susan L Tackitt June 12, 2008 4:26 am (Pacific time)

While we are at it we need to put God back into our Country because a Nation diveded cannot stand. At Military Funerals the folded flag forming a triangle is a reminder of what our Nation was founded on and what our founding fathers fought for, GOD and COUNTRY!
