(SALEM) - Traffic officers from five police agencies participated in a saturation patrol on Interstate-5 Friday in Salem, pulling over dozens of drivers and citing most of them for speeding violations. A total of 11 officers from Oregon State Police, Marion County Sheriff's Office, and Keizer, Woodburn, and Salem Police Departments participated in saturation patrols on Interstate 5. Saturation patrol efforts were focused in the highway work zone near Kuebler Road, and other stretches of the freeway between Salem and Woodburn. A total of 98 citations and 9 warnings were issued including: * 75 speed-related violations, of which the highest speed in the 50 mph work zone was 77 mph, and highest speed in a 65 mph zone was 91 mph. * Officers also cited 3 people for Driving While Suspended violations. The OSP Patrol Services Division aircraft assisted from the air. Nearly 90 percent of the citations were issued in the highway work zone boundaries.
